About Cure A Slice

The idea behind this website came about from years of playing golf and my observation of thousands of golf swings. The consistency in which the average golfer slices the golf ball is amazing. A golf ball can go one of three ways correct? Left, right or straight. So why is it that nearly 90% of golf's players hit the ball right? That is what this website is designed to do. Hopefully I can help educate golfers that are seeking advice about how the golf swing works. The golf swing is a physical challenge. And this challenge affects us physically, but moreso mentally and conceptually.

The problem that the majority of golfers have is their inability to understand the physics of their swing. Newton's thrid law states, "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." How true is this in golfing terms? The way in which you impact the golf ball with your club head determines where the ball goes.

Everything that leads up to the point of impact will determine where and how far the ball goes. Understanding how we get to the point of impact correctly is what we explore throughout this site.

I invite you to read on, all it takes is some time and effort...

So why listen to me? I've been where you're at, I've been frustrated with my swing and I too was a slicer. But not anymore.

Let me tell you a bit about myself...

I started playing golf when I was 11 years old. It's been 15 years now that I have played this game. Along the way I played high school and college golf. I learned quite a bit and had some great teaching. When I started playing, I had a slice that frustrated me like I'm sure you are frustrated. But with some research and some coaching, I rid my game of that nasty slice. I was able to do that by understanding what parts of my swing affected the path of my golf ball.

I play casually now, not near what I did while coming up through school. I don't have the time I once did, but I still have all the knowledge that I've carried on through my competitive playing days. I am highly analytical and have a desire to learn more and more. I have a tendancy to want to understand as much as possible about what causes my ball to go where it does. Through years of learning and teaching, I can shape the ball how I want it to go. And the day I was able to do that, so many things became possible on the golf course. And I was only able to do it after I fully understood what impact the different physical aspects of my swing had on which way the ball would fly.

I've seen too many frustrated golfers on the course...and they don't have to be that way. All it takes is some understanding and to be able to conceptualize the golf swing. Like anything else in life, you can't eliminate the problem unless you know where it is coming from and what is causing it. How do we do that? With education. Become educated in your craft, and you'll have a completely new appreciation for the game.

After having played the game and been through struggles of my own, I know what it's like. I still struggle from time to time, but I know how to correct it on the next tee. And you should too. There's no reason to continue playing golf knowing that you're going to slice the ball, when there is so much more to the game once you understand the physics.

I've been on both sides of the fence. Golf is a great game, and it's tough to enjoy the game anymore than you already do, but when you can be your own coach and fix your own swing by simply understanding the physical mechanics of the swing and the path your club should take, and the importance of weight shift and timing of it all, you'll wonder why you didn't educate yourself sooner.

So read along as we explore the importance of physics in your golf swing. There are also some wonderful tools that I would recommend you check into as well that you can read more about throughout the site. Remember sitting in school and asking yourself, "when will I ever use this in the real world?" Well that time is now...
