There is a wealth of golf information and teaching guides available to golfers. The question is which ones are worth the time and reading. Well, I've done some reading in my pursuit to continually improve my game. And I've listed some of my favorites here that have helped me discover specific aspects of the golf swing that I needed to pay attention to to help me. In high school, I used to suffer from the "banana slice". With time and effort and teaching, I've developed my game to the point where I can work the ball either way depending on the situation. In my late 20s now and playing casually, I average in the high 70s. But I don't suffer from that dreaded slice anymore. In fact, my natural shot path now is a draw. Having been on both sides of the fence in my golfing career, I am glad to say that I'm on the hook side now. And the way I've been able to make these steps and eliminate my slice is by understanding my swing mechanics. I can't stress enough how important knowing "what you did wrong" is in your progress toward hooking the ball. You can't fix anything if you don't know what you're doing wrong. So my advice to you after reading through this website is to pick up one of these books and continue your golf education. My favorite golf book available is a book I read while on my college golf team, and it's been around forever. Ben Hogan's Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf Other books that you should have in your library include the following:
United States Golf Teachers Federation®- golf employment. America's Favorite Golf Schools: Golf Lesson - 2, 3 and 5 day golf instruction vacations at over 50 locations across the United States. |
